Interview: Angelina Meliana

Meet Angelina Meliana, she is one of the hottest American models of the moment.  In our interview, Angelina gave a flavor of what it is like to be a successful model and an icon of sensuality. Check out what she had to say....

Angelina MelianaHello Angelina, I'm flattered you accepted to be interviewed for THE HUQ!, to start this interview off, please give me some background information. How did you initially decide to get into modeling?

Well.... funny as it may seem; I was at a night club when a photographer approached about me about a project he was working on for his portfolio, he needed a sexy, outgoing, fun female with a versatile look. He asked if I would be interested in collaborating with him and of course I said YES! The pictures came out beautiful and his fans adored me.... needless to say that was my welcoming entrance to the world!

What was the catalyst to you making this decision?

I love to play dress up and being in front of a camera, so to me this was a great way to make extra money and have fun while doing it. It was never a question as to if I was going to do it, it was more like how soon can I start!

Modeling isn't a job for shy women. As a rising glamour model, how did you build such a high self-confidence?

I believe confidence comes from within. All women are beautiful and made to be individual, I chose to embrace my imperfections and work with them instead of against them. My imperfections are the things that make me unique from the rest of the world and I love being me, I don't know how to be anyone else.

Define what being sexy is to you?

Sexy is a certain magnetism that attracts others to you. Each person defines sexy differently. Sexy is a sly suggestion made by a handsome stranger who dares to challenge your inquisitive nature with a new idea or a lusty yearning for a new experience as you explore it unfolding before you. Sexy is being able to feel the ideas in the minds of conversations. Sexy to me is not just a person's physical appearance; it's a feeling that comes over me that cannot be defined by words.

Angelina MelianaAngelina, you have one of the fiercest bodies that I've seen that elicits a high degree of pleasure from one's aesthetic senses, so I'm curious to know, how do you maintain your heavenly figure?

Awe, thank you. I have a very high protein, high carb diet. I eat vegetables with every meal and every meal contains a source of protein; chicken, meat or fish. I try to eat as much organic foods as I possibly can consume and I never eat anything packaged or canned. My workout contains 1-2 hours in the gym 5/6 days a week. I love to run, so I incorporate that into my routine as well as free weight training and resistance training.

How would you describe the image that comes across when people look at your photos?
My idea is to appeal to both men and women. I would hope that they would view

My idea is to appeal to both men and women. I would hope that they would view them as sexy and intriguing. I always try to keep the photos sexy without crossing the line. I am a woman, I have sex appeal and I try to play with that as much as possible in front of the camera.

What experience do you value more and attain more personal satisfaction from as a model: the creative process behind an intimate collaboration with a talented photographer, make-up artist and/or designer OR seeing the reaction from your family, friends and fans as they bare witness to the finished product?

I am a very artistic and creative female, my imagination runs wild on many occasions...therefore; I value more the creative process involved with any project I work on. Some of the make-up artist and photographers have ideas that only others can dream of and to be able to bring those ideas across in a photo is a rare talent to have. It's the process of getting to the finished project that I attain my own personal satisfaction. Please do not forget that I love all my fans and in the end I do this for them. Building huge popularity and successful modeling career demands business sense.

Angelina MelianaHow would you describe your business sense and money making talent? In other words, what are your criterion for selecting the appropriate companies to work with? When you are so coveted, I guess you say "no" more than "yes", am I right?

I am open to working with many different companies and magazines, the higher I am open to working with many different companies and magazines, the higher your viewings are or your client base, the more likely I am to say "yes." I usually look at past work they have done or the ports of models they have worked with. If I think the connection will benefit me and the company in a positive way, then we have a deal.

There are alot of misconceptions about glamour models. Does that stigma follow you?

At this point in my career I try not pay attention to anything negative. Misconceptions and stereotypes will always surround models as well as rappers, athletes etc. If you let things that people say about you bring you down you will always be a prisoner to them. I would like to think it doesn't follow me but I'm sure I will cross paths with it one day if I haven't already.

What is controversial and unique about you?
I have beautiful long legs. That is one thing I hear often from photographers, what amazingly beautiful legs I have. Besides a few other obvious assets I would have to say my long legs are as unique to me as I am to the world.

What would you say sets you apart from other women in the same field, with similar goals?

I am very versatile. I can give you the girl of your dreams, or the girl next store. I can be the Fashionista on the runway or in a bikini on the beach. If you want me to get my hands dirty, give me some grease and a tool and I'll be your favorite mechanic. Whatever your fantasies maybe I can fulfill it in pictures.

Do you place any limitations on yourself in terms of what you will and will not do in this industry to succeed, or do you have a 'by any means necessary I will get mine in the 21st century' attitude?

I have always been good at making money without selling my soul. My theory is if my father wont approved of it I'm not doing it. As long as I'm having fun, the photographer is professional and everyone is happy with the final product I'm going for it!!

Last but not least of course, what magazine would you like to grace the cover of?

It would be my all time dream to grace the cover of Maxim magazine. I have been a fan for years and I do have my own subscription. I was in Maxim once, the 2005 edition with Jamie Lynn on the cover, unknowingly of course. Me and my best friend were in Miami on spring break and pictures were being taken left and right but little did we know that someone taking them would be a photographer for Maxim!!! How cool would that be to have me on the cover of my edition to Maxim sitting on my coffee table!!

For all of the people, photographers, agencies and companies seeing you for the first time who will want to gain more information about you, tell them where they can go to see and read about some of your past, present and future projects?
