Emmaly Lugo Interview
Meet Emmaly Lugo, one of Hip-Hop's
newest and hottest video models. In her exclusive interview with
THE HUQ, Emmaly
talks about her life as a model, misconceptions, future plans and more.
What was your first step into the world
of modelling?
I got into modeling when I was about 15 years old. I always loved being behind the camera because I was involved in drama class in school. I met an agent and booked a photo shoot and from there out I was hooked.
What has 2010 been like for you in terms of modeling work?
2010 has been the most productive year for me when it comes to modeling.I have
been a principle in 3 mainstream music videos and featured in a few magazines.
Blackmen Magazine is my newest publication I will be in the next Hollywood
issue.

Eye candy and Modeling, is there a difference to you?
Eye candy and modeling are two completely different things. I believe that
eye candy is the more sensual side of modeling.
This is where you put on a sexy outfit and give a great booty shot. Where as
modeling you bring the theme of the photo to life... sure you may be in a sexy
camouflage outfit that shows cleavage but your face would is telling a story
about how your winning that war!.
Emmaly, you have a refined, voluptuous physique that elicits a high degree of
pleasure from one's aesthetic senses, so I'm curious to know what does your diet
and exercise regimen consist of?
I exercise at east 3 times a week with a trainer. We do squats until our
legs give out and crunches until out stomachs hurt! My diet isn't a diet it is
more of a healthier choice of foods. You are what you eat!!
Women with nice bodies and cute faces are notorious for being brain washers
(you know the saying "never trust a nice shape and a smile" ). Are there times
you've used your voluptuousness to manipulate men or situations to your
advantage? If so, can you give us an example?
I admit I have used my looks to get something done. For example, I was late for
my plane so late that my baggage wasn't able to be checked on! However, the guy
at the check in made it happen and upgraded me to first class!
How would you describe the image that comes across when people look at your
photos?
The image I hope most people see when viewing my photos is wow, she has a
beautiful....soul!!
What experience do you value
more and attain more personal satisfaction from as a model: the
creative process
behind an intimate collaboration with a talented photographer, make-up artist
and/or designer OR seeing the reaction from your family, friends and fans as
they bare witness to the finished product?
I enjoy the whole process. Finding a grade A photographer, getting all dolled up
for the shoot and seeing the final product!!
How fair is the modeling world to women in the grand scheme of things? Is
there any room for growth?
I believe it's definitely a man's world. Alot of the
editors, photographers, and agents are men and some take advantage of their
power. However, you will come across some very professional people who take their
job serious. There is definitely room for growth and I think the first step with
that is the models educating themselves.
There are a lot of misconceptions or stereotypes about models. Does that
stigma follow you?
I think this stigma follows every good looking person man
or woman. I find the best way to deal with that situation is by proving them
wrong.
But you're aware of the misconceptions. Which would you say is the worst?
The worst misconception is the "dumb model" label.
Just because I am pretty
doesn't mean God forgot to give me a brain!!
What is controversial and unique about you?
My unique qualities are my look is very universal. No one can ever guess my
ethnicity so I can fit into many projects. Also, I can be the sexy vixen or my
smile can transform me into the girl next door!
What would you say sets you apart from other women in the same field, with
similar goals?
Once again I believe the thing that sets me aside from other women
in my field
with similar goals is the idea that my look is very universal I can blend with
many different schemes which gives me versatility.
Do you place any limitations on yourself in terms of what you will and will not
do in this industry to succeed, or do you have a 'by any means necessary I will
get mine in the 21st century' attitude?
I have limitations because I want to have a respectable image. There have been jobs
that I got booked for that may have seemed like once in a lifetime opportunity
to some but I decided something better is waiting for me. Don't get me wrong I
will survive though!!
For all of the people, photographers, agencies and companies seeing you for the
first time who will want to gain more information about you, tell them where
they can go to see and read about some of your past, present and future
projects?
