Interview: Heather Shanholtz

Heather Shanholtz has taken the urban modeling world by force. Heather's otherworldy physique allows her to be known as "THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS". Her curvaceous build accompanied by her angelic face allowed her to move forward with her dreams. Here is what Heather had to say in the interview we conducted..

Heather Shanholtz

Hello Heather, I'm flattered you accepted to be interviewed for THE HUQ!, to start this interview off, please give me some background information.

Thanks for having me! I'm a full-time swimsuit and lingerie model located in Miami, FL.

How did you initially decide to get into modeling? What was the catalyst to you making this decision?

I always wanted to do it so one day I started researching. From there I set up my first photo shoot and signed with my first agency.

What was 2010 like for you in terms of modeling work?

It was amazing by far the best year for my career. I was 100% focused and finally made the move to Miami which brought me tons of opportunities.

Define what being sexy is to you?

Sexy is confidence in what ever you do and high self esteem. Lace panties are super sexy too!

Heather, you have one of the most refined physiques that I've seen that elicits a high degree of pleasure from one's aesthetic senses, so I'm curious to know what does your diet and exercise regimen consist of?

I try to be in the gym at least 4 times a week. My traveling sometimI try to be in the gym at least 4 times a week. My traveling sometimes doesn't allow that so I be sure to do 200 crunches before I go to bed and 200 when I wake up. That way I'm still doing 400 even if I don't make it to the gym. I also eat healty.

How would you describe the image that comes across when people look at your photos?

Heather ShanholtzSexy yet classy.

What experience do you value more and attain more personal satisfaction from as a model: the creative process behind an intimate collaboration with a talented photographer, make-up artist and/or designer OR seeing the reaction from your family, friends and fans as they bare witness to the finished product?

I don't necessarily enjoy one more than the other. I love the creative process and am constantly coming up with new ideas regards to styling and marketing. I love seeing the reaction from everyone. I've worked hard for that. My mom is one of my biggest supporters she's the first one running out to buy a new magazine that I'm in. There are a lot of misconceptions or stereotypes about glamour models.

Does that stigma follow you?

Nope. I'm a down to earth openminded person. I don't sleep around and I've worked really hard to get to where I am. Anyone that knows me even a little bit knows that. People also think models aren't or can't be intelligent. But you're aware of the misconceptions.

Which would you say is the worst?

Probably the intellect part. I hate it when someone doesn't take me seriously. I actually manage and market myself on top of keeping up with and updating my website. I also know web and graphic design and video editing. I even own a web design company.

What is controversial and unique about you?

I don't have a whole lot of patience I just don't have time for the bullshit. I'd say whats unique about me is that I hang out with people based solely on personality. I'm a total people person.

What would you say sets you apart from other women in the same field, with similar goals?

I push myself above and beyond. I'm constantly working even from my phone. I reach out to fans on a regular basis and always be sure to think outside the box to get me paid. Urban modeling is primarily dominated by black and Latina models.

Heather ShanholtzHas being one of the few white models in the game with a truly "killer" figure worked more to your advantage or disadvantage? Also, have you experienced any reverse racism as a result of this?

It was hard to get into at first. No one wanted to give me a chance. Once I shot with Eduardo Valdes the ball got moving and other photographers instantly wanted to shoot me. I then signed to a few urban modeling agencies. As of right now, I do more of the urban work than anything else. I'd say by me being blonde and caucasian it is definitely working to my advantage. I stand out. I haven't had any racism at all. The models and photographers and everyone I've met in the urban industry have all been great to me.

Do you place any limitations on yourself in terms of what you will and will not do in this industry to succeed, or do you have a 'by any means necessary I will get mine in the 21st century' attitude?

I don't pose nude at all. Topless implied is the farthest I'll go. I also don't do any type of fetish or bondage. I'm a glamour model but still want to keep it classy.

Heather ShanholtzFor all of the people, photographers, agencies and companies seeing you for the first time who will want to gain more information about you, tell them where they can go to see and read about some of your past, present and future projects?

My website is updated regularly www.heathershanholtz.com

Well, that's it. Feel free to throw in a question if there's something in particular I didn't cover that you want to plug or put out there.

Fans can always feel free to write me personally, I love hearing from you!
