TONI RAE INTERVIEW

Interview: Kaki West

Without our quintessential sex symbols year in and year out, television wouldn't have made such an impact in our lives. Model/Actress/Television reporter Kaki West has the kind of sweetness to be remembered and we're exhilarated to make her our featured model. Check out what she had to say in the interview we conducted..

Kaki WestHi Kaki, can you introduce yourself to our readers please? Who is Kaki West?

I am a model, actress, friend, daughter, sister, dreamer, Type A, humanitarian & mommy to the cutest puppy in the world.

How did you get involved in modeling?

I was signed at 14 in NYC Ford Modeling agency and it has grown into a lifestyle and dream career.

Have you come across any barriers and to what would you contribute your success?

In life there will always be barriers, especially in the entertainment industry there is an incredible amount of rejection. The flip-side is the "Yes's" or parts you do land are that much more meaningful. I would contribute my tenacity and work ethic to my success. I am a bit of a workaholic and live by the motto "Go Big or Go home!"

You're really blessed with good genes - a beautiful face and a wonderful body--two qualities that are highly important in terms of helping you to secure modeling gigs. Tell us about your heritage (the origins of your beauty) a little bit.

I am Irish with a dash of French. So I come from a long line of the "Fighting Irish" in my blood.

Kaki, you would have to be every guys' fantasy babe, you have a perfect skin tone, beautiful face and sculpted body. What, if anything, do you dislike about being an in-demand beauty?

First off, you are giving me way too much credit! I actually dislike crowds or a lot of hoopla. I enter a room in a sleek manner never a boisterous manner. But I think that's part of my charm or aloofness. So I have been told...

Kaki WestHow has your look evolved over the years and if you took a sheet of paper and a pencil, what would you list as the assets you have that you're proud to own?

A stick figure with the addition of 2 circles on my chest, that I now proudly own!

Kaki, your beauty is rare and intoxicating. How would you describe the demand for your beauty particularly in the modeling industry? How fierce is the competition you confront with other perfect-bodied beauties?

The entertainment industry is very competitive. But as I have grown and become more successful I realized the only person I am truly at competition with is myself. To constantly strive to be a better model, actress, host and person.

Kaki, how do you maintain your toned body?

Honestly for the past year it has just been a daily 1 hour cardio walking my dog or doing canyon. The gyms in LA can be too much of a scene. I enjoy being outside much more.

What has 2010 been for you in terms of work (party hosting, magazines covers & appearances, films, music videos etc)?

Wow, 2010 flew by so many exciting things to name a few. I got into red carpet hosting with a great company RealTV Films. In 1 year I covered Grammies, Oscars, movie premieres & other red carpet events. I hosted two private charity events at the Playboy Mansion. Modeling I shot a commercial for playboy.com, shot for Japanese lingerie Co. & many more. Appearances hosted club for my Birthday & others. TV worked on shows House & Entourage.

Kaki WestYour pictures are generally sexy, unique and original. Where does your creativity come from, and how do you choose the theme for each photoshoot?

I am a very creative and visual person. Depending on the shoot or company I am working for it can range. Usually I have a vision in my mind right down to the color of the lipstick. I am a perfectionist and I think it shows thru in my final product pictures. I am proud to say I have never used a stylist, even on big jobs I have been hired as my own stylist, which is very rare for a model.

How do you balance the "model" life with a normal and personal life?

As a model from a young age I have always kept professional verses private life distinctly separate. I have been reluctant on social media and what have you. I was the last person to join twitter about a year and a half after everyone else. I enjoy twitter for fun harmless banter and promoting various jobs/events. But if you share too much nothing is personal or private to you and those in your inner circle. Some things are best kept sacred.

What are some of your upcoming projects? What would you consider your biggest accomplishment so far?

Now I can begin to talk about my new TV show I start filming next month in Las Vegas. My show will air on prime time. So after years of acting this is finally my moment and I am also a producer on the show. I will boldly predict this will be my greatest accomplishment!

Lastly, where do you see yourself in 5 - 10 years?

I think it's only going to get bigger and better from here. My life has only gotten better with passing years. I envision a steady career in film/tv, maybe producing. Married with kids living in Beverly Hills or NYC. Possibly hawking my own line on QVC. Working more with charities such as the USO and ASPCA. But most importantly growing and evolving as a generous and kind humanitarian.
