Interview: Rosie Roff Hi Rosie, can you introduce yourself to our readers please? Who is Rosie Roff? Hi Readers, Thanks for taking the time to read through my interview. I'm 22 and from the Uk.
What was your first step into the world of modeling? Have you always been
comfortable with showing off your body?
I was young. I was stopped at a beach in
the UK where im from. I was 16, I lied and said I was 18 and took part in a
bikini contest. I got through to the next round, was surprisd because I was so
shy on stage.. my school friends were in the audience cheering me on, was a
funny day! I suppose even then I was an exhibitonist in the making! Was nervous
though, but obviously sparked something in me. If im honest, I probably enjoyed
the attention. I actually get more uncomfortable showing off my body than I did
when I was younger. Now, I'm alot fussier about the shoots I do and how I am
portrayed in those shoots. Some of the shoots I did a year a go I wouldnt dream
of doing now!
Define what being sexy is to you. Sexy is feeling confident in myself. Women have trouble feeling confident in their own skin all of the time, but thats the key to sexiness for us.
Eye candy and Modeling is there a difference to you? A huge difference. Modelling is to sell clothes and be able to have many different looks that work for womens mags as wel as mens. Eye candy just shows off the female form. Purely for mens mags. Eye candy is still modeling, but your modeling yourself rather than an outfit. Oh my god! So much has changed. I think it has improved, I think that women learn how to dress as they make mistakes along the way. I cringe looking at teenage photographs now. The things i thought looked good! All mistakes! I look after my body and myself more than i did as a teenager. I go to the gym, that in itself changes your body shape. I think you learn the importance of healthy foods and self nurture. I used to drink to much alcohol and not worry about what i was putting in my body. Now im strict and really pay attention to what my body really needs. My 2 favourite assets - Would be my hair, I have long and healthy natural hair. The second would be my waist, I'm lucky that I've got a 22 inch waist - ive always seen that as a good feature. Thank you. All women have their own attributes, its just about finding which market you fall in to. I dont think there is too much competition in my market, which is more glamour based, all the girls seem to be on each other side. Which is cool. I think its probably more cut throat in high fashion where there is pressure to be slim and there is a lot of money at stake from the fashion labels.
What has 2010 been for you in terms of modeling work (party hosting,
magazines, videos etc)? Its actually been a good year, I was actually at a cross roads where I was going to decide between my study and modeling. I was actually going to give it all up. Its always life though, when you stop trying so hard things seem to fall in to place. I have just been booked for my biggest job yet, a lingerie company. I'll be sure to post those pics to you when ive finished shooting this week. I have 2 FHM spreads coming out next month. My Show magazine, which I actually shot over a year ago finally dropped and they made me a cover girl-which was fantastic. Im looking forward to working with them a lot more. My cover launch party will be happening in London in December.
I was thankful for the opportunity to work with Apple Bottom Jeans. The Applebottom team in the UK are amazing to work with. They were so generous with the clothing too. I never met Nelly- I wish I had though! Your pictures are so sexy, unique and original. Where does your creativity come from, and how do you choose the theme for each photoshoot? Sometimes when im booked for a shoot I find it frustrating. I like to have a say about whats hapening in front of the camera.. and when your booked you are there to do the job and get what the team there needs from you. I find personal shoots for portfolios much more fun. I tend to build a good rappor with photographers I work with. When your comfortable like that and having a good time thats when the photographs look best! For me anyway! I dont have a big following, not like some! However, I enjoy being online. It is amazing to be able to talk to people worldwide. The internet has changed how we do everything today. It's opened the world up to each other. I came to America to model because of the internet and connections i made online. What are some of your upcoming projects? What would you consider your biggest accomplishment so far? I have just started working on a charity project for save the children. Its early days, but its all very exciting. I will be traveling to Africa for 3 months and working with a group of people building schools from scratch. This will not start for around a year, there is a lot of work to be done in the lead up to it! Be great to have the support of you guys when it all happens. As much press as we can get for the trip will help.
I have also just started a new, exciting
project with an internet site that has a computer company interested in turning
the models in to gaming characters. It would be fun to be turned in to the next
Lara Croft! I've just started work on this and it looks to be an ongoing
project. I'm still working on my new catalogue job. Biggest accomplishment,
being brave enough to give it all a shot!
Lastly, where do you see yourself in 5 - 10 years?
Isee myself with a house of my own and living independently and healthily. Who knows where life will take me. I try to plan, but it seems more fun without one :-)
